Proposal for Increasing College-Based Fees at Cal Poly
College Based Fees (CBF) were initiated by students to improve their quality of education and time to graduation. College Based Fees are included in tuition costs and allocations to each department are based on enrollment numbers. The department has established a College Based Fee committee represented by students and faculty that meets regularly throughout the academic year to:
- discuss needs for their respective program areas;
- develop/recommend an expenditure plan to the Department Head;
- provide oversight on how expenditures are occurring.
Expenditures/Achievements in 2008/09 for the NRM Program
- Co-shared coverage of the NRM Department staff positions
- Co-shared coverage of NRM Dept. Operating Expenses (70%)
- Co-shared coverage for monitors in NRM computer labs
- Hiring lecturers to provide FNR course sections not covered by state funds
- Purchasing lab, field and computer equipment and supplies
- Staffing of Peer Advising Center
- Department Head Contingency and Discretionary Fund
- Faculty travel to professional meetings
- Support for Alumni Newsletter
- Support for Awards Banquet
- Support for field trip costs
- Support for classes at Swanton
